CONGRATULATIONS to everyone involved

2009 Great Strides

Despite the weather, what an amazing turnout to support babies, children and young adults living with Cystic Fibrosis! 

This superb open air and family based event was held on Sunday 25^th October, at

• Princes Park, Melbourne.
• Lake Weeroona, Bendigo.

Melbourne saw 650 walkers, and Bendigo an amazing 220 walkers, coming from far and wide to complete the 3km or 6km courses.

For the first year Bendigo held their own Great Strides Walkathon on Sunday 25th October, and what a great success it was!  As like Melbourne the weather was against them, but this did not stop over 220 people coming to support such a worthy cause.

Bendigonians did what they do best, they came together to support a cause that is very close to many local people and managed to raise over $3000 towards CFV.

Both of these Walkathons have raised money to help us to continue to provide a range of free services throughout Victoria.

There was music, massages, performers and giveaways, also a sausage sizzle, raffle, showbags and lots, lots more. The sausage sizzle was a great way to try and keep warm while participants proved very generous with their donations and enjoyed taking home some bargins in the silent auctions. There was also a celebrity attendance at Melbourne from:

• Julie Corletto - Melbourne Vixens Netball

This was a family, office, and team fun day and a fun way to raise much needed money to support the work of Cystic Fibrosis Victoria. Many people bought their own picnic baskets and travel rugs for a day in the park afterwards!

Congratulations to all you winners with prizes awarded to:

• Run and walk winners – x2 adult and x2 child
• Wackiest dressed team
• Snappiest dressed
• And loads of spot prizes!!!

And still to be announced are the winners for money raised:

• $251 - $500 = $40 voucher
• $501 - $1000 = $100 voucher
• $1001 - $2500 = $200 voucher
• $2501+ = $500 voucher

Once again thank you for your contribution to this event, the money raised will benefit our many support programs.

And a special thank you to Kristy Hunt for organising Bendigo's first ever Great Strides Walkathon - an excellent achievement!!
